25th February, 2022.
Dear
Diary,
Interesting
things have happened today!
But let
me fill you in. On Monday I and other fellows and the Headteachers of their respective schools had a
meeting with the Teach for Uganda Training and Support, the managing director, the heads of Training and
Programs.
It was a fruitful one, I would say with a itching throat. But i strongly believe that that communication was made with clarity of a crystal ball. The rest of the week followed in the mood previously set but the events within were finger lickin' good :-)
Most of
my lower primary pupils received a gift in exchange for a sizeable bag of
plastics collected from and around their homes and communities. The gifts
included toys of cars, airplanes, plastic balls, whistles, pencils, among
others. Their happiness in showing me what they had gotten in exchange for what the
community had deemed trash, was relieving; it was a contagious happiness that in turn filled me to
the brim.

I am glad that 'Mr. Plastic' came. He not only gave gifts to my pupils but to the whole world too. The plastics that would have destroyed arable land were relocated. Now foods that will be grown in those spots previously occupied by the killer plastics will now breathe, ready to receive new occupants. With the falling of the rain, give it a few months, it will reach you right where you are!
On the same note, our school kicked off the training of its athletes for a grand zonal competition on 25th of the following month. So far so good, my team, 'House Uganda' did not perform weakly in the inter-house competition today.
Before my
ink runs out, it is worth noting that I registered two new names for my 'English
Xtra club' It is a sign that something is happening. Every Thursday and
Friday 16.00-17.30 they receive me with great zeal and enthusiasm. It is enough
to prove that I am
not losing in terms of time and money used for printing the learning materials.
With these, au revoir.
